Paula grew up exploring nature in rural Tennessee, where her first interest in natural medicine began. She received her BA degree with honors from Maryville College with a major in Biology and a Chemistry minor. Soon after, she found the Great Northwest and naturopathic medicine, which became the synthesis of science and natural health that she would follow.
Dr. Howse earned her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle, where she studied both ancient healing traditions and modern scientific methodology. Her clinical rounds concentrated on the specific practices of Dermatology, Diabetes & Cardiovascular Health, and Depression/Anxiety.
Dr. Howse is now a primary care practitioner treating people with acute and chronic health conditions. She uses the principles of naturopathic medicine to facilitate a healing fit for each individual, applying nutrition and lifestyle guidance, botanical medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, and pharmaceutical prescribing. She helps people discover the obstacles to their health and promotes patient empowerment to achieve a balanced lifestyle.
In her free time, Paula enjoys outdoor activities, like hiking, biking, kayaking, snowboarding and searching out wild plants and animals. Dr. Howse is happy to be a part of the fantastic team at Lighthouse Natural Medicine.
